Anyone who has had a baby knows that six weeks postpartum is a blur! And many experts, including the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, argue that postpartum care should extend beyond six weeks dubbing the time period up to 3 months postpartum "The Fourth Trimester"!
Our organization makes it a point to follow you to at least three months postpartum, encouraging all women to attend a Well Woman visit at the end of the fourth trimester where you discuss your health goals, get your recommend screenings if needed, make plans for your next baby, address any acute or chronic health issues and talk about mental health (among many other things)!
All clients receive:
- One (1) Annual Well Woman visit attended by
- NPR and AMCB certified nurse midwives OR
- NCC Certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner OR
- AANP Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
- CPR and BLS certified providers
- High quality, evidence based (UPSTF), patient centered care plans, including:
- Cervical Cancer Screenings
- Mammograms
- Osteoporosis Prevention
- Other preventative health screenings and lab work, as appropriate
- Mental Health and other related screenings
- Referrals to appropriate medical specialists as needed to manage acute or chronic health issues
- Referrals to functional medicine practitioners, nutritionists, physical therapists and other healthcare providers to support holistic wellbeing
- Preventative Health and Wellness Counseling that suits your individual goals with a focus on early prevention and detection of health issues:
- Cancer Screenings: Information about cancer screenings and early detection.
- Breast Health: Guidance for breast health and self-exams.
- Immunizations: Recommendations for vaccines and immunizations.
- Family Planning Goals: Discussing short-term and long-term family planning goals.
- Natural Family Planning: Education on fertility awareness-based methods.
- Menstrual Health: Education on menstrual cycles and support for maintenance of healthy ovarian function
- Contraceptive Education: Providing information on how different contraceptives work and tailoring of contraceptive choices to individual preferences and needs.
- Emergency Contraception: Information on emergency contraception options.
- Mental Health: Discussion of mental health and well-being, promoting emotional wellness, techniques and support for coping with stress and anxiety, resources and referrals as needed
- Sleep Hygiene: Tips for improving sleep quality and establishing healthy sleep habits.
- Nutrition and Weight Management: Guidance on nutrition and strategies for maintaining a healthy weight.
- Fitness and Exercise: Promoting physical fitness and tailored exercise plans.
- Smoking Cessation: Support for quitting smoking and tobacco use.
- Alcohol and Substance Use: Education on responsible alcohol consumption and substance abuse prevention.
- Menopause Management: Support and guidance during the menopausal transition.
- Bone Health: Assessing and managing bone health, including osteoporosis prevention.
